Maternity care

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Please view the following advice and let us know you are pregnant so the surgery can update your medical records.

Vitamins advice

It is recommended that all pregnant women take 400 micrograms (mcg) of folic acid each day. Ideally you should take this from before you are pregnant until you are 12 weeks pregnant.

The Department of Health also recommends that all adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women, need 10 micrograms (10mcg) of vitamin D a day, and should take a supplement containing this amount.

Vaccinations

View information from www.bsuh.nhs.uk on vaccinations in pregnancy.

We strongly recommend that you have these vaccinations both for your health and that of your baby.

Flu vaccinations are available from the beginning of October

The surgery will invite you in for your whooping cough vaccination

Diet

For advice on diet in pregnancy please view the Food Safety
