Ordering repeat prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions can be requested in the following ways:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
- using the GP online system: SystmOnline
- fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
- via paper – you can submit your request in writing at reception and/or post them through the letter box at the main entrance.
All medication requests must be in written form. We do not accept telephone requests for medication.
Collecting your prescription
Your prescription will usually be issued within 3 working days of ordering it.

Please note the above is subject to change to take into account bank holidays. You can request a prescription within 2 weeks of the issue date to ensure you allow us and the pharmacy to prepare your request safely and efficiently.
Unless stated otherwise, your prescription will be sent to your nominated pharmacy. If you require this to be sent somewhere else, please let us know when requesting your prescription.
If you would like to change your nominated pharmacy, please phone the surgery on 01273 559601 and the reception team will be able to assist you.
Nominating a pharmacy
You can choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- fill out a nominate a pharmacy or other dispenser form
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
- complete a nomination form in the waiting room and post in the repeat prescription box
- tell the Receptionist in person or over the phone
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines
Take it to the pharmacy you got it from. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
How can patients help reduce prescription waste?
Check your medication cupboard before ordering more, order prescriptions when you have 7 days of medications left and let us or your surgery know if you have stopped taking any of your medicines.
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff.
