Enhanced Access

As part of the Brighton & Hove Federation, Preston Park Surgery patients have access to evening and weekend appointments. These include GP appointments as well as nurse and healthcare assistant appointments. Based on your symptoms, we can offer you these appointments, as well as those available at this surgery.

Use Self-Referral Services Before Booking a GP Appointment

For many health concerns, you don’t need to see a GP first. Self-referral services allow you to access expert help directly—saving you time as you are not needing to wait for a GP appointment.

You can self-refer for a range of issues, including:

  • Physiotherapy – for joint, back, or muscle pain
  • Mental health support – such as talking therapies for anxiety or depression
  • Sexual health services – including contraception and STI testing
  • Maternity services – to start your pregnancy care
  • And many more

Our receptionists are trained to signpost you to these services; therefore, they will ask you a few questions about the reason for your call. You do not have to disclose this information, but if you choose to, you may receive the right care sooner.

Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to always try to visit the the surgery where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, If you feel you may need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 11am.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will visit you at home only if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently the visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule a home visit.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
