We encourage all women to have a cervical smear: for women between 25-50 this should be every three years and for women between 50-65 every five years (or more frequently if indicated). This can be done here at the surgery, by either your doctor or a practice nurse.
We have access to counselling though the surgery. Please discuss this with your doctor. We do not refer directly to the counsellors but via a central referral assessment team who decide where and when counselling is offered. This is often based at the surgery.
Adult and holiday immunisations are performed by the practice nurses by appointment. If you are intending to go abroad it is advisable to make an appointment to see the nurse two to three months in advance to discuss the requirements. The nurse stocks a full range of holiday vaccinations and will give you all the necessary information. Some vaccinations require a fee.
Childhood immunisations and immunisations for older children are provided by appointment with the practice nurse.
Integrated Primary Care Team (District Nurses) are available 08.00 - 16.00 Monday to Friday on 01273 545290.
Out of hours please ring the 111 service.
Emergency contraception is available at this surgery. Leaflets are available outside the nurses’ treatment room. Please contact the receptionist and ask for an urgent appointment (can be a telephone appointment) with either the nurse or doctor, indicating the reason for your request.
This can also be purchased over the counter at many pharmacies.
Advice and counselling on a range of methods of contraception are provided by both the doctors and nurses. Please make an appointment.
We fit coils at this practice. Please make an appointment with Dr Brown for an initial review and discussion of the procedure. When booking please advise reception of the reason.
As part of our Practice’s commitment to the promotion of health and the prevention of illness in our patients we are offering health checks to people aged between 40 – 74.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below and at the NHS Fit for Travel website.
When booking an appointment with the Nurse please read the following:
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment may also be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
It will be very helpful to print off the following Travel form and bring it in completed to your appointment.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe the EU has published useful information for travellers on the European website.
